Louisiana's Road Congestion & GridlockCongestion is a significantly increasing problem and has become a quality of life issue, particularly in the southern metropolitan areas of the state. Twenty-eight percent of Louisiana’s urban Interstates and other highways are considered congested, and it is estimated that vehicle travel in Louisiana will “double” on Interstate and major thoroughfares by the year 2020. In addition, the average cost of congestion per person is $190 per year. |
